Pachi Rivero

1876

Pachi Rivero
Santander, 1963. Club: RCM Santander

An enviable experience, chock full of success both in ocean and coastal racing, with a profound technical knowledge of all the tiny details that form the extremely complex machinery that is an IMOCA Open 60, have made Pachi Rivero worthy of the confidence of Estrella Damm for its new project in which he is taken on as the ideal complement to Guillermo Altadill. On the other hand, Pachi was classified as one of the best bowmen in the America’s Cup, a race he has participated in on two occasions. He has also acquired ample experience on the Maxi race circuits, winning the 2006 Maxi World Championship on the Alfa Romeo. His experience in Atlantic crossing has been very successful, as was the  Cádiz - La Habana Regatta that he won on the 60 foot Caja Madrid.

Pachi is now one of the most highly considered racing boat trainers, and it was precisely in the last edition of the Barcelona World Race that he prove he had become one of the great specialists in the IMOCA Open 60. He co-skippered the Mutua Madrileña with Bubi Sansó, obtaining fourth place, both becoming the first Spaniard to complete a double handed round the world race. His handling mastery is exceptional and his technical knowledge prove itself decisive to overcome the difficulties that always arise in such a hard race.
