About the Skipper

Javier Sanso, nicknamed Bubi, is back to compete again in the Vendée Globe. He is someone that will need to be watched closely. At the start of the 2000-2001 solo non-stop round the world race, the Spanish skipper did not have what it took to be up with the frontrunners, as he was sailing aboard an older boat that had been launched back in 1992. This first attempt ended with him being forced to retire after suffering damage to his rudder.
