Boat nameGroupe Bel
About
This boat designed by the Van Peteghem - Lauriot Prevost team in conjunction with Guillaume Verdier was launched in September 2007. Just like Safran, Kito de Pavant’s Groupe Bel was built with the aim of being as light as possible.
History
It was on board this boat that Kito de Pavant set out in the last Vendée Globe, but the race was unfortunately to come to an early end following the boat being dismasted in the Bay of Biscay. Groupe Bel also took part in two Transat Jacques Vabre races, in 2007 and in 2009, finishing respectively sixth and second. The year 2009 was marked by the solo Mediterranean crossing record and taking part in the Giraglia Rolex Cup as well as the second place obtained in the Istanbul Europa Race. Groupe Bel will be one of the three boats taking part in both the Route du Rhum and the Barcelona World Race.
