About the Skipper

Pachi Rivero is considered to be one of the best people at preparing boats in the international circuit.This experienced skipper, bowman for the Spanish challenger in the last two America’s Cup events, won the Maxi world championship aboard the giant Alfa Romeo. He also won a number of titles in various series in Spain.

Pachi Rivero proved that he was an expert in 60-foot IMOCA boats. In the first edition of the Barcelona World Race, he grabbed fourth place alongside Javier Sanso, on board Mutua Madrileña.His technical knowledge allowed the two men to overcome the difficulties that are to be expected in this type of race and to become the first Spanish duo to complete a double-handed round the world race.

More recently, Pachi Rivero took part in the Transat Jacques Vabre with Yves Parlier. The Spanish skipper now sails with Antonio Piris on Renault, the former Gitana Eighty aboard which Loick Peyron won the transatlantic race from Plymouth and took part in the last Vendée Globe. After taking part in the record between New York and Barcelona, Pachi Rivero took fourth place in the Round Spain sailing race, managing to keep up with some of the leading players in the IMOCA class. He is a Spaniard to watch in the world of sailing in the coming years, espacially after his 3rd place in the 2010-2011 Barcelona World Race.
