For the 60th anniversary of the UNESCO - Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, Alexia Barrier, on board TSE-4MyPlanet, deployed the last Argo profiler float of the Vendée Globe 2020 fleet.

It was dropped off the Kerguelen Islands, a sanctuary of biodiversity, and listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

On January 1, the world scientific community inaugurates the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021-2030: 10 years to turn the tide.

The mission of the decade, coordinated by IOC-UNESCO, is: "to imagine transformative solutions from ocean sciences for sustainable development, thus forging a link between people and our oceans".

One of the challenges of the UN Decade is to ensure a sustainable ocean observing system that provides accurate data and information accessible to all users on the state of the ocean, in all ocean basins.

The float has been donated by the Argo-France Program and has been adopted by a class of CM2 students in Brest (France) who will follow the course of this instrument and look at the measured data.
