RACE REPORT #6 –Day 39 on the 2024 Vendée Globe
The skippers of the Vendée Globe have reached a key milestone: entering the South Pacific Ocean, the most remote area on the planet. The farther they sail, the further they drift from any land, heading toward the legendary Point Nemo, located over 2,600 km from the nearest coast.
At the front, Charlie Dalin (MACIF Santé Prévoyance) holds a slight lead over Yoann Richomme (PAPREC ARKÉA) and Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil). Further back, conditions vary: some are capitalizing on strong winds to gain speed, while others struggle against rough seas and violent winds.
Erwan Israël, sailors aboard the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, analyzes the events of recent days and shares his outlook on the days ahead in this new Race Report!
