A pure product of the Bay of Morlaix, Jeremie Beyou wore out his foul weather gear with the family on Optimists from a tender age. Trained at the Pole France sailing centre in Brest, by the age of 18, he was already up with the winners of the French Espoir Dinghy Championship. In 1995, he discovered the Beneteau Figaro and at the age of 20, he took part in his first Solitaire du Figaro. In 1998, he reached the Top Ten of the French Single-handed Offshore Racing Championship, which he won twice in 2002 and 2005. He outclassed all his contenders on the Figaro Beneteau circuit in 1995, completing an unprecedented Grand Slam: Generali Solo, Route du Ponant and Solitaire du Figaro where he snatched victory from Michel Desjoyeaux at the end of the final legendary leg.

His demanding nature and his acute sense of perfectionism pushed him to surpass himself, and it was only logical that Jérémie would want to show his talent in other races. Among other events, he competed in two Transat Jacques Vabre (4th place in 2003 on PRB with Vincent Riou and 4th place in 2009 on Foncia with Michel Desjoyeaux) and in 2006, he convinced his sponsor to back him in the Vendee Globe. His first attempt single-handed round the world ended with him retiring off the coast of Brazil. Since this frustrating experience, Jeremie has continued to show his versatility and ability to evolve constantly at the highest level. The year 2011 on his monohull was exceptional. Now a two-time winner of the Solitaire du Figaro, he also won the Transat Jacques Vabre alongside Jean-Pierre Dick on Virbrac-Paprec 3. If he could not finish the Vendee Globe 2012, he will be present in 2016.
