IMOCA

EUROPEAN PRO TOUR TO FINISH IN BREST & THE TRANSAT JACQUES VABRE IN COSTA RICA

On the 28th August 2009 The European Pro Tour, a race specifically for IMOCA Open 60s, will start from Istanbul. This new crewed race will finish in Brest at the end of September 2009. This was announced at the Paris Boat Show last Friday 12th  December by the mayor of Brest and Mr Cumali Varer who is in charge of Olay Nautic, the race organisers. The definitive route and partners of this new race will be announced at the end of March 2009, but will include a stop-over in Barcelona. There will also be a stopover on the French Riviera, most likely to be Nice, and a stopover in the UK will complete the overall structure of the race.

The competitors will then have a month to get to Le Havre for the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre. The new destination, Puerto Limon in Costa Rica was also announced by the organisers Penduick at the Paris Boat Show. The 2009 IMOCA race calendar is almost complete, details of which will be announced on Friday 9th January at the London International Boat Show at ExCel.
