A DESERVED FIFTH PLACE FOR NEUTROGENA 11th Apr 2011

After 100 days 03 hours 13 minutes and 25 seconds of sailing, Neutrogena completed the round the world voyage on Sunday at 17:13:25. The German/American duo formed by Boris Herrmann and Ryan Breymaier were one of the youngest crews in this Barcelona World Race.

The two skippers worked well together, with one having scored a win in the Portimao Global Ocean Race 2008-2009, the Class 40 round the world event, and the other knowing the boat really well. This enabled them to overcome a number of obstacles along the way: their gennaker went overboard, they had to repair their hydrogenerators, their forestay broke and they suffered keel problems which meant they could only get 70% out of their boat.
Winner of the 2006 Route du Rhum under the name of Veolia Environnement, when she was skippered by Roland Jourdain, Neutrogena showed that she still has what it takes. She enabled the young crew to grab fifth place and to satisfy Ryan Breymaier’s expectations: "Our goal was to sail around the world without having to carry out a pit stop. We wanted to do it as cleanly as possible, so that our friends, team and partners could be proud of us. We just wanted to be able to say that we had done our best and that everyone could see exactly that...” The two competitors achieved this goal and can be proud of their voyage.
