About

The fifth PRB is the result of another joint collaboration between Van Peteghem - Lauriot Prevost and the designer Guillaume Verdier. She was the first IMOCA monohull of her generation to be launched.

History

Vincent Riou’s latest boat was launched in March 2010. During his first race aboard her, the Douarnenez Grand Prix, Vincent Riou won a coastal race and finished second in the final rankings, ahead of some of the leading boats in the IMOCA circuit (Safran, Veolia Environnement and Brit Air). The new PRB once again showed her potential by taking second place in the Round Spain Race, after a great duel with Marc Guillemot’s Safran. Promising results for the winner of the 2004-2005 Vendée Globe 2004-2005, who seems now to have a highly efficient boat at his disposal.

About the Skipper

Nicknamed Vincent the Terrible by Jean Le Cam during the 2004-2005 Vendée Globe, which he won in style, Vincent Riou is certainly one of the most talented sailors of his generation. An efficient hard worker, who remains very discreet, Vincent was the technical coordinator of PRB that Michel Desjoyeaux sailed to victory in the 2000 Vendée Globe. Two years later, he was also behind Desjoyeaux’s victory in the 2002 Route du Rhum, but this time as router. Two different victories showing off the wide range of skills, which would take him to the summit – the 2004-2005 Vendée Globe, which he completed after 87 days of sailing around the world.
