The IMOCA Class is very sad to learn of the passing today of Charlie Dalin, one of the greatest solo sailors of the modern era.

Charlie, who was 42, fought bravely against the cancer that was diagnosed before he set sail on his triumphant Vendée Globe in 2024. That he completed the race, and won it in a new record time, was a testament to his courage and skill as a sportsman, a sailor and a man who was driven by his love for the sea and boats.

The IMOCA Class and all its skippers extend their deepest condolences to Charlie’s family - in particular his wife Perrine and son Oscar - to his team MACIF and to his loved ones.

We would like to thank Charlie for all that he has done for our sport and for the Class.

We will all miss him.

Sail on Charlie…
