Born from the encounter between the IMOCA Class and the Lorient-based company Azimut, the Défi Azimut-Lorient Agglomération, an atypical ocean racing event, aims to combine performance, innovation and strategy. Sport at the highest level of competition on the water and a great deal of conviviality on land are the hallmarks of this event, which has been an undeniable success.

The programme each year includes speed runs, a 48-hour race and a tour of the island of Groix. A winning combination as the event grows from year to year and attracts ever more competitors.

In 2021, the Défi Azimut-Lorient Agglomération was included in the IMOCA GLOBE SERIES Championship (coefficient 1). The 16th edition of this annual event is being prepared for 2026.
