Xavier Macaire discovered sailing in childhood alongside his father and developed a passion for racing at an early age. From the 420 dinghy to the Tour de France à la Voile, he trained on all types of boats before moving into boatbuilding.
Trained in sailing from a very young age, Xavier Macaire began his career racing dinghies before making a name for himself on the professional circuits. After competing in the Mini 6.50 class—where he secured a podium finish in the Mini Transat—he spent ten seasons in the Figaro class, claiming two leg victories in the Solitaire du Figaro, several overall podiums, and the title of French Elite Champion in 2015.
A versatile sailor, Xavier has also excelled in the Ocean Fifty and Class40 classes, notably winning the Niji40 Transat in 2024. His exemplary track record and offshore experience naturally led him to take on the IMOCA challenge.
In 2025, he takes a new step by becoming co-skipper with Justine Mettraux aboard the IMOCA TeamWork - Team Snef. Together, they will compete in an intense season highlighted by the Transat Café L’Or, a double-handed transatlantic race departing from Le Havre.
