In May 2025, Team Malizia announced the build of a new IMOCA racing yacht and with it, an unprecedented collaboration. For the first time in recent IMOCA class history, three teams, Team Malizia, TR Racing (Thomas Ruyant), and Team Banque Populaire (Loïs Berrehar), have united to co-design and construct three new boats.
Combining their expertise and ambition, they have been working with naval architect Antoine Koch, design office Finot-Conq, and structural engineering firm Gsea Design. The yachts are built at the CDK Technologies shipyard. While they share a common platform, each team is made specific modifications to reflect their skipper’s unique approach to offshore racing. This joint project brings teams together to share knowledge, reduce costs, and lower our climate impact.
Launched on 6 July 2026, Malizia was built as a versatile IMOCA for both The Ocean Race and the Vendée Globe. She features a narrower, flatter hull with significantly less rocker, powerful new foils by C3 Technologies designed to fly earlier and perform across a wider range of conditions, and a distinctive blade underneath the hull to reduce drag when heeled. The yacht is equipped with a Generation 2 one-design Lorima mast, Gleistein ropes, North Sails, B&G electronics, a Pixel sur Mer autopilot, advanced sensors from ifm, and Schütz CORMASTER® honeycomb material in the hull and deck structures. Building on the team's previous experience, Malizia 4 also features a hybrid-electric propulsion and energy system with a Molabo electric motor, Fischer Panda generator and Solid State Marine batteries. The boat has a fully enclosed cockpit with steering wheels instead of a tiller, panoramic windows and an optimised interior layout for both solo and crewed racing.
Like her predecessor, Malizia 4 carries the OceanPack, an automated laboratory collecting crucial Ocean data for scientist to better understand the role of the Ocean in the climate system and features the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals wheel alongside the team's mission slogan, "A Race We Must Win - Climate Action Now!".
