A foggy start, a round already merciless!
Under a veil of mist that still lingered at 2 p.m., the first edition of the Course des Caps – Boulogne-sur-Mer – Banque Populaire du Nord set off this Sunday, June 29, in a barely perceptible breeze.

After ten years of racing catamarans at the highest level, Loïs Berrehar decided to enter ocean racing by joining Team Sodebo alongside Thomas Coville, with whom he accumulated many miles.
However, the young sailor is more and more attracted by solo sailing and decides to make a radical change from multihull to monohull by joining the Figaro Bénéteau class. Now with the Bretagne - CMB team, Loïs Berrehar has been able to show his full potential, notably by finishing first rookie in the Solo Maître CoQ just a few weeks after his solo debut, but also by taking fifteenth place in the very demanding Solitaire Urgo - Le Figaro and first rookie in the 2018 French Elite Ocean Racing Championship. These promising performances allow him to take the helm of the Figaro 3 Performance in 2019.
After starting the season alongside Tom Laperche in Figaro 3, Loïs joined Fabrice Amedeo for the 2021 season, where they finished 10th in the Transat Jacques Vabre. In 2023, he returned to the IMOCA Class with Romain Attanasio for the Défi Azimut-Lorient Agglomération and the Transat Jacques Vabre. After a successful season in Figaro, he sailed in IMOCA as Charlie Dalin's replacement skipper for the 2024-2025 Vendée Globe.
In 2025, he announced, alongside Banque Populaire, the construction of a new IMOCA with the goal of competing in the solo round-the-world race in 2028.
While waiting for his new IMOCA, Loïs will take part in crewed races with Team Malizia, including the Course des Caps and The Ocean Race Europe.
