EUROPE EXPRESS I The IMOCA in Italy: A New Chapter Begins
We are in Genoa for the finish of the 4th leg of The Ocean Race Europe. And this time, it’s a historic moment: Italian skipper Ambrogio Beccaria, just making his debut in the IMOCA class, takes the stage win. A remarkable victory — not only for the sporting challenge of such a demanding course, but also for its symbolic weight: winning at home, in Liguria.
Behind the scenes, another challenge unfolds: securing sponsorship. We met Simona Giorgetta, CEO of MAPEI, a new partner alongside Beccaria, as well as Francesca Clapcich, the Italo-American skipper backed by an organization across the Atlantic.
Between sporting ambition, fresh partnerships, and the warmth of Italy (with a bit of focaccia, of course), Italy is writing its IMOCA chapter.
