JEAN LE CAM: MASTER OF THE SEAS PORTRAIT

An engaging personality, known and recognised for his outspokenness, Jean takes real delight in sharing his stories, his emotions and his adventures with the public. We can just picture the show he put on to the crowd in Les Sables d’Olonne for his Vendée Globe finish in 2012-13, to the tune of Allumez le feu by French rocker Johnny Hallyday!
If there is one iconic figure in offshore racing, it has to be Jean Le Cam, a pure product of the “Vallée des Fous” (Valley of Madmen), as Port-la-Forêt’s training ground is nicknamed: “I grew up in the Finistère between Châteauneuf du Faou, Quimperlé, Quimper and La Forêt Fouesnant on the beach of Kerleven, in Port la Forêt.”
