JJérémie Beyou and Morgan Lagravière (Charal) win IMOCA division on TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR
French duo Jérémie Beyou and Morgan Lagravière (Charal 2) took the IMOCA Class victory on the TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR Le Havre Normandie double handed race this Friday morning when they crossed the finish line at 5.15 am hrs local time (minus 4hrs UTC).
Their elapsed time for the course is 11 days 19 hours 45 minutes and 18 seconds.
It is Beyou’s first major ocean race win since 2020 whilst co-skipper Lagravière wins the IMOCA race for the third successive edition, a new record on this 17th edition of the biennial Coffee Route.
Victory is all the sweeter for the hugely talented, ultra competitive Beyou, who has won La Solitaire three times, but has struggled with technical problems – small and large – on many of his main IMOCA races. Recruiting Lagravière, who won in 2023 and 2021 with Thomas Ruyant, as co-skipper has contributed significantly to their success this time, as have technical advances which have given the powerful black hulled Sam Manuard designed IMOCA a speed advantage on this course.
