L'Occitane Sailing Team continues to add to the strength of their team by appointing Alan Roberts as Co-skipper & Performance Coach. Alan will join the team for the remainder of the 23-24 IMOCA Globe Series Season.
Roberts, having recently completed the Ocean Race, has continued solidifying his reputation as a formidable sailor in the offshore racing circuit. As a graduate of the Artemis Offshore Academy, a renowned institution that has nurtured many British talents, Roberts has honed his skills over the past decade, excelling in both the Figaro and solo sailing categories. His dedication and exceptional performance have earned him a well-deserved reputation as an accomplished sailor.
Roberts' achievements extend beyond his success in the Figaro and solo sailing disciplines. He has been actively involved in several IMOCA projects including teams in The Ocean Race as well as setting a Transatlantic record with Canada Ocean Racing, all this showcasing his versatility and adaptability in high-stakes offshore racing.
Roberts had the following comment "I am honored to join the L'Occitane Sailing Team, it's an exciting opportunity to work with such a talented and passionate team. Having just finished the Ocean Race and being involved in various IMOCA projects for the last few years, I am eager to bring my experience to the table and contribute to the team's success. The Rolex Fastnet Race is renowned for its challenges, but I am confident that together Clarisse and I can overcome them and get the team's first race under our belts.”
The Rolex Fastnet Race, renowned as one of the most demanding sprint offshore races, will serve as the first test for Roberts as co-skipper of the L'Occitane Sailing Team. This race, which combines tactical decision-making, navigational prowess, and physical endurance, will undoubtedly test the team of Crémer & Roberts skills. With this being Clarisse’s Crémers first race with her newly launched team having such a strong Co-skipper sets the duo up for a strong start to their season.
Skipper Clarisse Crémer said, "I've known Alan for a few years now, we've crossed paths a lot and now we finally have the opportunity to sail together. He's super enthusiastic, always motivated and kind, super rigorous, I couldn't dream of a better Co-skipper for the Transat Jacques Vabre and as a training partner next year.
What's more, he's just gained a lot of IMOCA experience thanks to The Ocean Race... which makes him a great ally to take this boat in hand. We've only been working together for a few days, but I can already feel the magic happening!”
