Clément Giraud’s participation on the ex-PRB certainly wasn’t a given this spring after a fire broke out aboard the boat prior to the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre 2019, a misfortune rocked by the fact that her skipper’s partner pulled out and a reliable repair seemed uncertain.

Back in 2006, Vincent Riou called upon Farr to design this IMOCA, but the Route du Rhum saw her mast break. The monohull then went on to post a knock-out performance in the Calais Round Britain, then the Fastnet Race 2007, but she dismasted again in the Barcelona World Race (with Seb Josse), then retired from The Transat after hitting a shark. After rescuing Jean Le Cam off Cape Horn, her skipper Vincent Riou had to retire due to a broken outrigger: however, he still managed to rank 3rd in the Vendée Globe 2008-2009. Arnaud Boissières took up the tale, finishing 7th in the Route du Rhum 2010, then 8th in the following Vendée Globe. Tanguy de Lamotte took it upon himself to modify the bow in 2014, finishing 7th in the Route du Rhum and 5th in the Transat Jacques Vabre 2015, before retiring from the last Vendée Globe with a broken masthead. Taken on by Yannick Bestaven, the IMOCA finished 5th in Bahia (with Kito de Pavant) in 2017, but had to retire from the last Route du Rhum. Clément Giraud took ownership of her in 2019, but had to throw in the towel in Le Havre… Bought by Louis Duc in 2020, she has been undergoing a technical refit since last December with the Vendée Globe 2024 as her goal.
