The IMOCA Teams Charter is part of the Class' Sustainable Development program, which aims to move the daily life of our sports projects towards more environmentally friendly practices.

This document, approved by the French Ministry of Sports, is the common reference that will help teams to make a progressive transition with concrete and quantified objectives throughout the 2021-2025 IMOCA Globe Series Championship, and then up to 2030 thereafter.

The IMOCA Teams Charter brings together 7 themes, each of which proposes objectives to which are associated actions and a given implementation time. A range of tools is suggested (including a Toolbox*) to help the teams.

7 themes:

·       Commitment

·       Mobility

·       Impact management

·       Nutrition

·       Energy and water

·       Communication

·       Contribution

* The Toolbox = A collaborative digital tool to help you implement a sustainable development strategy within your team. The Toolbox is developed by 11th Hour Racing Team and will be made available free of charge to the IMOCA Class for its members from 2021.

GIVE BOX INITIATIVE

Claire Vayer and Imogen Dinham-Price, in charge of sustainable development projects for the IMOCA Class, in collaboration with Lorient Agglomération and Kellie Covington, have set up in June 2020 on La Base, in Lorient (Morbihan), a re-use facility for all local skippers. Called Give Box, the objective is to encourage teams to drop off new or slightly used equipment. The concept is working, to the delight of small teams.
