It was certainly a "dengue" ordeal for Antoine Cornic, who crossed the finish line of the first edition of Retour à La Base in twenty-sixth position at 06:19 on Wednesday December 13. The skipper of Human Immobilier completed the 3,500-mile theoretical course in 12 days 13 hours 19 minutes 23 seconds, at an average speed of 11.61 knots.
A sporting achievement in itself, especially when you consider the state in which the sailor from La Rochelle, between fevers and pain, covered the 4,099.98 miles at an average speed of 13.61 knots.
