At around 15h30 on Monday, the skipper of Charal, taking part in The Transat CIC, informed his shore crew of damage to his J2 forestay.

At the time of the damage, Jérémie was making headway among the leading men. He had got through the most violent conditions at the start of the day and was making headway in less than 20 knots of wind with waves of 2 to 3 metres. ‘There was a big boom,’ explains Jérémie, who spent a long time manoeuvring to secure everything. Although he insists that ‘the mast vibrated’, Jérémie points out that it was not damaged.
