At 7:40 this morning (local time), the Groupe Dubreuil IMOCA dismasted southwest of the island of Groix, at about 10 miles from the Retour à La Base finish line. Skipper Sébastien Simon is doing well and has not requested assistance.
Still in the race, he has secured the boat and is progressing downwind towards the finish line to try to complete his solo transat race. He was 17th position in manageable conditions with a wind of 25 knots and heavy seas. The race direction informed the other competitors of the Return to Base when approaching Lorient in order to avoid a collision.
