Sophie has had a passion for the sea ever since she was a little girl, and started sailing at her primary school in Granville, Normandy. Quickly hooked on this new environment, she quickly got into the competitive game
After graduating with a degree in STAPS Education & motricity, she went on to take the professional skipper's certificate (C200Voile) and then the BPJEPS in Le Havre so that she could teach and pass on her passion. It was the start of a wonderful collaboration with the Société des Régates du Havre (2011) that continues today.
As a young top-level sportswoman with the French Sailing Federation, she followed a 'classic' inshore course (fleet racing and match racing) while training offshore thanks to the Tour de France à la Voile project in Normandy.
In 2014, she entered the 'young talent from Normandy' selection and won. The prize: part of the budget to represent the Normandy Region on the Figaro Bénéteau circuit for 2 consecutive years. So, from 2015 to 2018, she became a semi-professional sportswoman, combining her preparation for the Solitaire with her work at SRH.
Having been unable to set up a project in the Figaro Bénéteau 3, she responded to a call for applications from a Belgian skipper to work alongside him in preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in double-handed ocean racing. In 2021, the IOC finally decided not to keep this event, but at the same time Worldsailing created a world championship in the discipline, in which they would take part with Jonas in 2021 and 2022.
After racing double-handed in the Figaro 3, Sophie will be sailing in the IMOCA class with Seb Marsset for the 2023 IMOCA GLOBE SERIES season.
