Initially scheduled for this Sunday at 1:02 p.m., then postponed due to weather conditions, the start of the 12th Route du Rhum will finally be given on Wednesday at 2:15 p.m., with a weather forecast that looks much more favorable.

The 138 skippers of the Route du Rhum can look forward to a new start. This Sunday, during a media briefing held at 10:00 am in Saint-Malo, the organizer OC Sport Pen Duick and the Race Director Francis Le Goff officially announced that the start of the 12th edition will finally be Wednesday at 2:15 pm. "In this time slot, the weather conditions are expected to be very manageable with a westerly wind of around fifteen knots," explains Francis Le Goff. "The situation will be favorable for the exit from the Channel, with an excellent forecast reliability of more than 90%. The start of the race will therefore be much less tricky than if the start had been given this Sunday."

The sailors involved will be called for a weather briefing on the eve of the start. The 38 IMOCA boats and the 8 Ocean Fifty boats will leave the docks in Saint-Malo on Tuesday afternoon (times to be defined). The Class40s and the Rhum Mono and Rhum Multi categories will use the lock on Wednesday morning. The set up will be similar to those deployed for the exit of the Ultim 32/23 last Friday, with bleachers accessible to the public.

As planned, this Sunday will be the last day of the race village, open to all until 17:00. It will allow visitors to come and admire the boats still present in the basins before their Atlantic sprint.

The mobilization of the organization has been readjusted in record time, allowing to prolong the enthusiasm and excitement of the race. And this thanks to the commitment alongside the organizer OC Sport Pen Duick of the Region of Guadeloupe, the City of Saint-Malo, the Region of Brittany, the CIC, the national resources, the volunteers of the SNBSM and all the forces involved.
