BERNARD STAMM: MASTER OF THE SEAS PORTRAIT

The Swiss sailor freely admits that becoming a professional sailor was not a childhood dream, rather it stemmed from a succession of coincidences. “I remember from a very early age wanting to be a vulcanologist, largely because I liked the word! I gave up sailing after my teenage years to learn the lumberjack trade, which is what I worked as for 6 years. After that, I went off sailing in the merchant navy. I left Switzerland and travelled the world for 4 years. Next, I began delivering boats across the Atlantic and ended up in Brittany. If I had to choose another profession today, it would be a marine biologist as it’s something that I’ve been passionate about for years. This is especially true now that I’ve got to know more about it through my trips around the world. I’m really very curious about a great many things.”
